Material Handler (MTE)

About the role

Manchester Tank, part of McWane, is hiring a full-time Material Handler in Campbellsville. The handler deals with several tasks at once, moving raw materials and finished products around the plant, yard or work site, including loading and unloading.

Key responsibilities

• Complete daily safety audits on the tow motor and fill out check sheets.
• Read the weekly schedule or follow oral instructions to find out what materials or containers need to be moved.
• Operate an industrial truck to load or move materials and products around the work site.
• Move materials from storage or work sites to their designated areas.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials and mark information on bins, baskets or other containers.
• Drive safely and cautiously, and follow all EHS guidelines, the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and work instructions.
• Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly and shut down processes that are unsafe.
• Take part in safety, environmental and process improvement efforts.
• Attend regularly and on time, and work overtime when needed due to production demands.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or 1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Dependable, self-motivated, with good communication skills and a positive attitude toward the work environment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, tape measures, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Willingness to attend, complete and implement required in-house training.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Required skills

• Forklift certification with Manchester Tank & Equipment; internal training and certification for the Telehandler is provided.
• Ability to lift and move objects regularly; objects over 50 pounds require assistance or mechanical devices.
• Wearing of hearing protection, metatarsal safety shoes and eye protection is required during production.
