Material Handler I - 2nd Shift

About the role

Stryker is hiring a Material Handler I for its Portage site, working the second shift Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with overtime as needed. The position is onsite and pays $20.75 per hour plus a $2.00 shift differential, with bonus potential and benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Handle and maintain the flow of materials and products in manufacturing areas under direct supervision, following established guidelines.
• Provide information for recording the movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.
• May operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, and may operate a forklift.
• Unpack and check goods against purchase orders or invoices, and maintain records of received goods, alerting personnel to inspect unsatisfactory items.
• Prepare and maintain records of shipped items and comply with documentation and record-keeping procedures.
• May prepare goods for final shipment or production assembly, and examine, stock and distribute goods in inventory.
• May enter information into the inventory management system and train others in distribution-related tasks.
• May work from engineering drawings or documented assembly and packaging instructions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior manufacturing or related experience preferred.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items.

Required skills

• Ability to operate common material handling equipment such as hand trucks, scales and label makers.
• General computer skills and ability to use computer-related programs.
