Master Mechanic (A Tech) - Budget Truck, Full-Time

About the role

Avis Budget Group is hiring immediately a Master Mechanic (A Tech) for its Budget truck fleet in Addison, Illinois. The role covers standard and complex repairs, including warranties, on a wide range of makes and models such as cargo vans and box trucks, with no technical supervision. The pay is $30 per hour, with a possible retention bonus of up to $3,000 depending on factors such as geography, skills, education and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex repairs, including warranty work, on cargo vans and box trucks
• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning and computer systems
• Act as a technical expert to other technicians in the shop
• May be required to drive a Budget Truck on public access roads

Required profile

• Valid driver's license (Class A, B or C)
• At least 3 years of auto repair experience; 3 ASE certifications, with the ability to earn 2 more within the first year
• ASE knowledge in Engine Repair, Drive Train/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance and Light Vehicle/Diesel
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and near a noisy mechanical shop
• Complete set of auto repair tools, basic computer skills and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• At least 21 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States, and able to obtain DOT medical clearance
• Regular on-site presence required; previous OEM experience preferred
