Manufacturing Engineering Lead, Batteries

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Lead to drive scaling, efficiency and cost reduction of its battery production line for electric aviation. The role combines hands‑on problem solving with long‑term strategic planning, and includes mentorship of a team of manufacturing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and integrate new battery products into production while optimizing existing processes.
• Develop and execute scalable manufacturing strategies, applying Lean principles to eliminate waste.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with design, supply chain, quality, automation and program management to meet production targets.
• Own capacity planning, process capability studies and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with FAA Part 21 production requirements through virtual builds and real‑world demonstrations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in high‑rate production environments such as aerospace or automotive.
• Proven leadership in managing, mentoring and developing engineering teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in SPC, MSA and root‑cause analysis.

Required skills

• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design to Cost.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Root‑Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Proficiency with Catia, SolidWorks, Minitab and ERP/MES systems.
• Knowledge of automation, digital manufacturing, GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups and metrology tools.
