Manufacturing Engineer (Tube Shop)

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (Tube Shop) in Redondo Beach to support the build of flight-critical tube assemblies for spacecraft propulsion, fluid transfer and structural subsystems. The role is hands-on and covers developing, qualifying and improving fabrication processes for rigid and flexible tubing, including bending, flaring, swaging, welding and assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate and continuously improve tube fabrication processes, including CNC tube bending, end preparation, orbital welding, cleaning and assembly.
• Author and maintain detailed work instructions and process flows, and define custom tooling or fixtures as needed.
• Serve as the go-to technical resource for technicians on the floor and troubleshoot build issues in real time.
• Work with design and integration engineers so that tube routing and assembly designs are producible and optimized for scale.
• Ensure operations meet strict aerospace process controls, lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for non-conformances.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of demonstrated manufacturing engineering experience (aerospace or high-precision industries preferred).
• Demonstrated hands-on shop-floor experience and comfort working directly with technicians and tooling.
• Preferred: 2+ years of tube bending, welding or assembly experience; welding engineering, welding development or metallurgical background.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process specifications.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GD&T, aerospace drawing standards and industry specifications such as D17.1, IEST-STD-CC1264 and 91-710.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Preferred: orbital welding, Swagelok or Parker fittings.

• Pay range of $105,000 - $145,000 per year, depending on role, level, location and skills.
