Manufacturing Engineer – Tool & Process Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead tool, equipment and process projects within our plant. The position works independently, applying engineering expertise to improve production flow, quality, safety and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects for tools, large equipment, work stations and emerging technologies.
• Supervise a team of skilled hourly employees to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and processes.
• Administer the National and Local Agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
• Apply independent judgment within Global Manufacturing Systems, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost and Environment (SPQRCE).
• Define manufacturing processes, operation sequences, human‑factor considerations and efficient material flow.
• Design, construct, integrate, install, launch and continuously improve equipment and tools for high‑quality part production.
• Provide technical direction and oversight to external vendors.
• Develop and test advanced process technologies as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on manufacturing experience with technical troubleshooting.
• Willingness to rotate between 1st and 2nd production shifts.
• College degree in a technical field is a plus.

Required skills

• FANUC robot programming and automation.
• Experience with conveyor systems (OHPF, inverted PF, PRBs, two‑strand).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic blueprints.
• PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
• Knowledge of lock‑out/tag‑out safety procedures and fall‑hazard awareness.
