Manufacturing Engineer, Spacecraft Avionics

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (Mira Avionics) in Redondo Beach to work cross-functionally on delivering critical avionics hardware for its Mira and Helios vehicles. The role provides program-level oversight of avionics production, drives execution across disciplines and coordinates engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, test and program management teams so that hardware reaches orbit on schedule and to the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, resource requirements and deliverables for avionics manufacturing programs.
• Serve as the main point of contact for flight hardware and ground support equipment, keeping teams aligned.
• Work with program management to set delivery schedules, deconflict resources, manage production flow and align manufacturing priorities with program goals.
• Coordinate engineering, production, supply chain, quality, test and operations teams to deliver avionics hardware on time.
• Drive product quality, manufacturing consistency and long-term hardware reliability.
• Ensure components are built, tested and delivered to vehicle integration on schedule, addressing constraints that could delay milestones.
• Provide project status updates, lead project reviews, communicate risks and mitigations, and keep internal and external stakeholders aligned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of development or manufacturing experience with electronic or optical hardware, including build and test.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams on technically complex projects.
• Strong project management skills.
• Preferred: M.S. degree and 10+ years in spacecraft avionics manufacturing, including setting up and scaling manufacturing lines.

• Stated pay range of $140,000 to $205,000 per year, depending on role, level, location and experience.
