Manufacturing Engineer – External Supply Chain

About the role

Rolls‑Royce is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its External Supply Chain team in Indianapolis. Working in a hybrid model (three days onsite per week), you will act as the technical authority for supplier management, ensuring that manufacturing methods align with design intent throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with design engineering to guarantee product integrity by aligning manufacturing methods with design specifications.
• Develop and validate manufacturing methods for new components, meeting quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness targets.
• Assess supplier capabilities using the FAIR process and manage method changes through the Method Verification process.
• Approve component airworthiness by reviewing critical data, specifications and compliance with Rolls‑Royce procedures.
• Influence commodity strategies and sourcing decisions by leveraging technical packages and best‑practice knowledge.
• Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally to support supplier activities.

Required profile

• Professional accountability to the Supplier Technical Assurance Manager.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles and supply‑chain dynamics.
• Ability to evaluate methods of manufacture against design intent and regulatory requirements.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

• Experience with FAIR and Method Verification processes.
• Knowledge of component airworthiness approval procedures.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical packages and specifications.
