Manager, Research Laboratory - Medical Oncology

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC seeks a full‑time Manager to oversee daily operations of its Medical Oncology research laboratory on the UHealth medical campus. The role ensures a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment that supports cutting‑edge oncology research.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement short‑ and long‑range goals for laboratory operations.
• Develop and enforce laboratory policies and procedures, coordinating with research staff on service‑impacting issues.
• Act as liaison among investigators, research personnel, and support staff to resolve operational challenges.
• Advise on technical procedures, techniques, and equipment while maintaining compliance with operational standards.
• Conduct safety quality checks and ensure facilities follow good laboratory practices.
• Install and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with federal regulations.
• Train laboratory technicians on standard operating procedures and equipment requirements.
• Assist in determining fiscal needs and preparing budget recommendations.
• Compile reports and analyses on progress, trends, and recommendations.
• Establish and assess internal controls, ensuring adherence to university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in laboratory management.
• Strong knowledge of operational management, organizational development, financial oversight, and team leadership.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
