About the role

Lead and oversee the patient food service operations at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, ensuring high‑quality meals, safe food handling, and excellent patient satisfaction. The manager collaborates with nutrition directors and department heads to align food production with clinical needs and budgetary goals.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily food production, patient meal services, and tray‑line operations while monitoring food costs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate menus that meet nutritional standards and patient preferences.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, and equipment maintenance standards across all food service areas.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, track expenditures, and justify variances.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, state regulations, and accreditation requirements.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff, providing performance feedback and professional development.
• Conduct patient taste and temperature panels and oversee inventory control of supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with four years of food‑service management experience (or high school diploma with eight years), including at least two years of supervisory experience.
• Serve Safe certification (or obtain within two years of hire) and basic computer proficiency.
• Strong communication skills and ability to inspire confidence and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Self‑directed, flexible, innovative mindset with solid leadership and organizational abilities.
