Manager, Credit Risk Operations

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Manager, Credit Risk Operations. You will own credit risk across its global product portfolio, assessing prospective and existing merchants while balancing commercial growth with strong risk protection. The role works from the San Francisco office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Key responsibilities

• Own credit risk exposure across the global product portfolio and payment acceptance channels
• Drive KYB processes supporting a diversified, high-quality merchant portfolio
• Define and monitor global credit risk KPIs, reporting and dashboards
• Build and improve SOPs for credit risk vetting, investigation and ongoing monitoring
• Partner with Business Development, Legal, Compliance and Transaction Risk to balance commercial goals with risk mitigation
• Strengthen risk awareness across stakeholders and surface emerging risks across products and geographies

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience assessing counterparty or merchant credit risk
• Practical experience with ongoing credit monitoring, limit setting and early-warning frameworks
• Experience identifying and escalating emerging credit risks across payment products and geographies
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and an ownership mindset
• Preferred: experience managing credit exposure for merchants or partners in fintech, payments or financial institutions; background in regulatory compliance or operational risk management

Required skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment and collateral structures
• Deep understanding of payment flows, settlement timing, reserves and chargebacks
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Preferred: advanced SQL, card brand monitoring, KYB/KYC requirements, and knowledge of payment processing systems
