Manager, Clinical Trial Activation

About the role

The Department of Clinical Trials Budgeting & Activation at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Manager to lead a team responsible for financial oversight of clinical trial agreements. The role is hybrid, based at the Don Soffer Clinical Research Center.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Clinical Trials Activation Analysts, handling day‑to‑day supervision, performance reporting and onboarding.
• Prepare and negotiate research budgets, Medicare Coverage Analyses, and financial terms for complex research agreements, ensuring compliance with sponsor, federal, state and university policies.
• Track budget development, payment terms, and generate reports, data summaries and statistical analyses for the portfolio.
• Collaborate with university units, external research entities and MSOM stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and billing compliance.
• Assist the Director with creating tools, templates and training materials, and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience in research budgeting, financial oversight or related operational management.
• Strong knowledge of operational management, organizational development and financial oversight within a research environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software.
• Experience using relevant computer applications for budgeting and reporting.
