Manager, Applied AI Engineering – Beneficial Deployments (Life Sciences)

About the role

Anthropic is building Claude for Life Sciences to accelerate discovery, development, and regulatory review in biotech and pharma. As the Applied AI Engineering Manager, you will lead a team that translates cutting‑edge AI into deployed solutions for top scientific organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of Applied AI Engineers focused on strategic life‑science partners.
• Own the technical success of flagship pharma and biotech deployments from scoping through production.
• Design and deliver deterministic tools, data connectors, and evaluation pipelines that make complex biological data reliable for AI agents.
• Maintain hands‑on involvement: review prototypes, contribute code, and ensure research‑grade reproducibility, auditability, and correctness.
• Collaborate across go‑to‑market, product, and research teams to align engineering output with business goals.
• Set standards for responsible deployment in a dual‑use domain, balancing scientific advancement with safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams that deliver AI‑driven solutions.
• Deep understanding of scientific and regulatory workflows in life sciences.
• Hands‑on technical background with AI/ML, software engineering, and data integration.
• Strong communication skills to work directly with pharma/biotech customers.
