Maintenance Technician – The Hayward, Washington DC

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join Greystar’s team at The Hayward on Mass Ave in Washington, DC. The role ensures the building, grounds, amenities and common areas meet Greystar’s standards for cleanliness, safety and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to resident service requests and complete work orders, diagnosing issues and performing repairs in line with safety, code and company policies.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including inspections, punch‑list creation, coordinating vendors, and completing all necessary repairs and cleaning.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document all service activities accurately and timely to ensure proper tracking.
• Maintain grounds and common areas by removing trash, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, general cleaning, and painting curbs and signage as required.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts and using materials efficiently.

Required profile

• Technical and mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair building systems.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance and “make‑ready” unit turnover.
• Familiarity with safety and risk‑management procedures and local code requirements.
• Strong organizational skills for inventory management and documentation.
