Maintenance Technician – The Hayward, Washington, DC

About the role

The Maintenance Technician ensures that the physical aspects of The Hayward property—including buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas—meet Greystar’s standards for cleanliness, safety, appearance, and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Complete work orders generated from resident requests and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing defects and making repairs in line with policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, supply procurement, maintenance tasks, and final inspections.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document service requests accurately and promptly to ensure proper tracking.
• Maintain grounds and common areas by picking up trash, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, general cleaning, and painting curbs and signage as needed.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts and using materials efficiently.

Required profile

• Ability to diagnose building defects and perform repairs according to safety and code standards.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and make‑ready turnover processes.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation and inventory management.
