Maintenance Technician – The Essex

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its team at The Essex property in Utah. The role focuses on ensuring that all building systems, grounds, amenities, and common areas meet the company’s standards for cleanliness, safety, appearance, and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to resident service requests and complete work orders, diagnosing issues and performing repairs in line with policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including pre‑move‑out inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, and final inspections.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document all service requests accurately and promptly to ensure proper tracking.
• Assist with grounds and common‑area upkeep, such as trash removal, pressure‑washing, general cleaning, and painting of curbs and signage.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing parts when feasible and using materials efficiently.

Required profile

• Ability to diagnose mechanical and technical issues and perform repairs safely.
• Experience with preparing vacant apartments for new occupants.
• Strong organizational skills for inventory management and documentation.
• Willingness to follow safety and risk‑management policies and attend routine safety meetings.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
