Maintenance Technician – Mechanical Maintenance

About the role

BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Mechanic) to join its Crop Protection site in Sparks, GA. The role focuses on maintaining and improving the reliability of plant mechanical systems while supporting a safe and sustainable manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical equipment and document all activities.
• Maintain, adjust, install, and repair mechanical systems using drawings, manuals, blueprints, and P&ID diagrams.
• Repair and install various piping systems and valves (threaded, flanged, welded, glued, compression).
• Recommend equipment, piping, or procedural changes to enhance safety and reliability.
• Suggest tools, equipment, or methods to improve repair efficiency and safety.
• Support all company and regulatory health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting, or 2 years of experience combined with a 2‑year industrial maintenance degree.
• Preferred: 8 years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of chemical process instrumentation (level, flow, pressure, temperature).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
• Ability to write and revise job instructions.
