Maintenance Technician

About the role

CommonPlace is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to keep our apartment communities safe, functional, and welcoming. You will work directly with property teams to ensure residents enjoy high‑quality living spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare new apartments with thorough make‑readies.
• Respond promptly to resident service requests and after‑hours emergencies.
• Maintain the appearance and operation of units, amenities, grounds, and building systems.
• Oversee vendor work, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Manage inventory, order parts, and keep supplies organized.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
• Handle lock changes, snow/ice removal, and other on‑site needs.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and assist with training of maintenance staff.

Required profile

• Prior apartment maintenance or handyman experience.
• Self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to be on‑call, work weekends, and travel between nearby properties.
• Valid driver’s license and auto‑insurance.

Required skills

• HVAC knowledge (certification a plus).
• Plumbing basics.
• Electrical basics.
• Safe use of power tools and hand tools.
