Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift)

About the role

Saputo, a global dairy processor, is hiring a Maintenance Technician for its 3rd shift in Franklin. The technician supports production by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and improving cheese processing, packaging, refrigeration, boiler and utility equipment, working with Production, Sanitation, Quality and Engineering teams to reduce downtime and protect food and employee safety.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic failures on cheese processing, packaging, refrigeration and utility equipment
• Support production operations such as shredding, cubing, conveying, drying, packaging and material handling equipment
• Repair motors, gearboxes, bearings, VFDs, HMIs, PLC-controlled equipment, metal detectors, scales, sensors and safety devices
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability
• Read electrical schematics, PLC I/O drawings, P&IDs and mechanical drawings
• Install, align and maintain conveyor systems, pumps and production machinery; perform shaft alignment, bearing replacement and belt tracking
• Maintain industrial refrigeration, compressed air, chilled water, boiler and hot water systems, and engine room equipment
• Weld, cut, grind, fabricate and repair stainless steel; participate in installations, line modifications and capital projects
• Program and troubleshoot equipment settings via HMIs and control systems, and complete preventive, predictive and emergency maintenance
• Follow LOTO, confined space, hot work and other safety procedures, and keep maintenance records in SAP or another CMMS

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years of industrial maintenance experience in food manufacturing, dairy processing, packaging or a related environment
• Ability to work any shift, including overtime, weekends and holidays
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in noisy and humid conditions, and wear PPE

Required skills

• Working knowledge of mechanical systems (conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors)
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V and reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Preferred: PLC, VFD, industrial refrigeration, welding or fabrication experience, and SAP or CMMS use
