Maintenance Shop Foreman

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a full‑time Maintenance Shop Foreman to lead the day‑to‑day upkeep of its heavy‑duty fleet at the Gainesville service center. You will supervise preventive and corrective maintenance on tractors, forklifts and dry‑van trailers while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on heavy‑duty tractors, forklifts and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair major systems including air brakes, clutches, diesel engines, electrical components, lift‑gates and overhead doors.
• Oversee shop administrative duties such as work orders, inventory tracking and tool management.
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, ensuring quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and parts usage.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience maintaining tractor‑trailers, forklifts or similar heavy equipment.
• Prior experience with air brakes, clutches, diesel engines, electrical systems and lift‑gate mechanisms.
• Experience with dry‑van trailer maintenance is mandatory.
• Ability to manage shop paperwork and administrative tasks.
• Must own personal tools; manager or supervisory experience is a plus.
