Maintenance Mechanic – Plant Operations

About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical tasks across the plant to ensure equipment reliability and safe operation. This role supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute maintenance assignments on plant equipment and facilities, including preventive and predictive tasks.
• Perform millwright duties such as bearing replacement, equipment alignment, and power transmission inspection and repair.
• Carry out welding and cutting work, including fabrication of equipment and repair of worn process components.
• Inspect and service lubrication systems, drain and replace oil, and change filters on all equipment reservoirs.
• Conduct pipefitting tasks to install, maintain, and inspect various piping systems.
• Operate mobile equipment to assist with maintenance activities.
• Inspect and repair plumbing on plant equipment and facilities.
• Collect and record data for preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Adhere to CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA safety regulations and wear required protective equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior mechanical and welding experience, with relevant training or certification.
• Previous plant maintenance mechanic experience is a plus.
• Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions.
• Strong basic math skills, including fractions and unit conversions.
• Proficiency in reading English technical manuals and safety documentation.
• Effective communication with supervisors, welders, leadmen, and other maintenance personnel.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
