Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for our Rock Yard Unit at the Uncle Sam location. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a wide range of plant and mining equipment while adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair machinery and equipment according to established job plans.
• Perform emergency repairs and break‑in maintenance.
• Lubricate and conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, conveyors, and other rotating equipment.
• Assist with rigging, crane hand‑signals, and lift operations.
• Enter work requests and defect data into the CMMS.
• Participate in safety meetings, PPE compliance, LOTO, and other required safety procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational training (Millwright, Pipefitter, Boilermaker, Machinist, Welding) preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of industrial mechanical experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship.
• Experience in the phosphate or mining industry is a plus.
• Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license and operate mobile equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, torches, welding equipment, pneumatic and electric tools.
• Use of precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, piping, fabrication, conveyors, large rotating equipment, draglines and dredges.
• Operation of overhead cranes, boom trucks, large forklifts and aerial man lifts.
• Basic computer skills and CMMS data entry.
