Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Join BASF’s Care Chemicals division in Mauldin, SC as a Maintenance Mechanic. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe operation and maximum production availability.

Key responsibilities

• Work safely with prescribed PPE and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues on stationary and rotating equipment.
• Maintain pumps, air compressors, chillers, boilers, vacuum pumps, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Interpret single‑ and three‑phase electrical schematics and follow technical manuals.
• Use hand and power tools, and operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts.
• Complete paperwork and computer entries accurately and keep the work area organized.
• Perform general labor tasks, including lifting at least 50 lb and working in elevated or outdoor environments.
• Be on‑call after training; work overtime or night shifts during major shutdowns.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (equivalent).
• Preferably 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Industrial maintenance certificate emphasizing mechanical systems (preferred).
• Experience with rigging and welding, cutting, machining of carbon and stainless‑steel alloys.
• Familiarity with SAP, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, and Process Safety Management.
