Machinist

About the role

Moog is seeking an experienced Machinist to join its production team in Blacksburg, VA. The role focuses on operating and maintaining a variety of machining equipment to produce high‑quality components while adhering to blueprints and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC lathes and mills.
• Select and use appropriate taps, dies, hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, sanders, and blasters.
• Operate band saws, cut‑off saws, and manage tool changes, speeds, and feeds.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment and verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment and tooling issues, complete required paperwork, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (preferred) with at least 6 years of machining experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lb (with reasonable accommodation if needed).
• Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Capability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively.
