Machinist II – 2nd Shift (2pm‑10:30pm)

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group in Torrance, CA is seeking an experienced Machinist II for the 2nd shift (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm). You will work onsite in a high‑performance aerospace environment, supporting the production of flight‑control actuation systems for advanced military aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate two or more manual or CNC machines, including profiling, hones, Gleason reciprocators, generators, milling, turning, drilling and grinding.
• Plan operation sequences, select or improve tooling, and perform complete machining cycles on a variety of materials.
• Meet production time standards, perform part deburring, and execute all standard machinist functions.
• Operate equipment outside your primary expertise when required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to read and follow English work instructions.
• Minimum three years of CNC machining experience.
• Availability for the 2nd‑shift schedule (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm).
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Required skills

• CNC machining proficiency.
• Experience with Gleason Shaper P500, Gleason Shaper GP300, Gleason Hobbing Machine H400.
• Okuma Multi‑Pallet Machine Center (5‑axis) and other 5‑axis vertical/horizontal machining centers.
• CNC turning centers with live tooling, Y‑axis and sub‑spindles.
• Swiss‑style lathes (Citizen or Star) for high‑precision components.
• Automated cells integrated with robotic part loaders or pallet changers.
• Gear shaping, gear hobbing, and gear skiving operations.
