Live Programming Producer

About the role

The Weather Channel is seeking a Live Programming Producer to create engaging, timely content for its live TV network. The role blends editorial leadership, scriptwriting, and real‑time decision‑making to bring weather stories to viewers across cable, OTT and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Create and manage daily rundowns using ENPS software.
• Write scripts, select video assets, and design accurate lower‑third graphics for on‑air use.
• Translate complex scientific data into clear, consumer‑friendly narratives.
• Make rapid decisions under pressure and relay urgent information to talent and behind‑the‑scenes staff.
• Produce live and pre‑recorded segments from concept through completion.
• Coordinate with assignment desks and field crews to ensure accurate, compelling coverage during weather events.
• Research and source video clips from archives and social media platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ newsroom experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments while maintaining accuracy.
• Flexibility to work onsite and during early mornings, weekends, or evenings for live broadcasts.
