Litigation Counsel

About the role

GEICO is seeking an experienced Litigation Counsel to join its Corporate Litigation and Investigations Division. The role provides legal guidance to the Claims organization on complex litigation matters, focusing on bad‑faith, extra‑contractual exposure, and broader litigation management.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Claims team on coverage issues, bad‑faith claims, and extra‑contractual allegations.
• Conduct factual and legal research, analysis, and draft memoranda.
• Develop trial strategy, evaluate case posture, coordinate with outside counsel, and prepare witnesses.
• Support case strategy through trial, including appellate considerations.
• Create and deliver internal presentations on legal issues and project updates.
• Inform GEICO leadership about pending litigation, emerging trends, and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5‑7 years of substantive litigation experience, preferably handling bad‑faith or extra‑contractual matters.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non‑lawyers.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders.
