Linux L3 Engineer – RHEL, Ansible, VMware (Contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Linux L3 Engineer to join our team on a contract basis in Springfield, TX. You will be responsible for advanced administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL 7/8/9 servers, including Satellite and Cluster management.
• Configure Kickstart servers, Identity Management, and user/performance settings.
• Implement and maintain configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Manage VMware and other virtualization platforms.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts (bash/ksh), Perl, and Python automation.
• Handle disaster recovery, OS patching, LVM, and boot‑issue resolution.
• Perform security hardening with SELinux, OSSEC, SSSD, LDAP, and Kerberos.
• Provision bare‑metal installations and oversee SAN migrations.
• Monitor infrastructure using BMC Patrol, SolarWinds, and Tivoli Monitoring.

Required profile

• 10+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on Linux systems.
• Proven expertise in RHEL administration and troubleshooting.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
