Link Service Coordinator – Homeless Support

About the role

The Link Service Coordinator works within the Office of Community Services at Allegheny County Department of Human Services, providing the first point of contact for individuals experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis. Employed by Community Family Advocates, the role blends phone, email, and in‑person assistance to connect clients with resources and prevent evictions.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls, emails, and walk‑in inquiries at the Allegheny Link hotline and Human Services Building.
• Conduct informal needs assessments and guide clients to appropriate homeless and housing services.
• Collect and enter HUD Coordinated Entry data and complete the Allegheny Housing Assessment with clients.
• Provide crisis intervention, supportive listening, and advocacy as needed.
• Screen clients for eligibility in public and private assistance programs and educate them on next steps.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and DHS events, working on a rotating three‑shift schedule.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills with a respectful, client‑centered approach.
• Ability to work flexible staggered shifts (8 am–5 pm, Monday‑Friday) and rotate weekly.
• Comfort with both remote and on‑site work, attending the office at least two days per week.
• Experience or interest in homelessness prevention, housing services, or social support.
