Lineman – Seasonal Contract, Antarctica

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Lineman for a seasonal contract supporting the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). Linemen perform electrical distribution maintenance or construction work, or a combination of both, under the supervision of the Lineman Foreman, with tasking driven by the ASC schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Install branch circuits, power distribution wiring, electrical equipment, fixtures and conduit in line with the NESC and NEC
• Install and maintain overhead electrical lines up to 4160 volts
• Diagnose, repair and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on existing systems
• Respond to emergency service calls during and outside normal hours
• Document hours worked, tasking, materials and processes, and advise the supervisor on progress and needs
• Use design drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams, and prepare work plans, job hazard and safety analyses and code forms
• Work outdoors in windy and extremely cold conditions, and follow ESH, waste management and quality assurance requirements
• Identify hazards and code violations, follow SOPs, and use computer-based tracking applications

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medium to high voltage electrical license or equivalent
• At least four years of experience in all phases of the lineman trade
• Experience with 4160 volt systems or higher, and with commercial, government, industrial and/or institutional facilities
• Willingness to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, and to pass medical, dental, drug screening, background checks and federal background checks
• US citizenship required for facility credentials at this location, and a valid US driver's license

Required skills

• NESC and NEC knowledge, including grounding and bonding
• Reading drawings, specifications and troubleshooting guides
• Written work plans, JHA and JSA under a permit-to-work system
• LOTO, confined space, NFPA 70E and OSHA electrical safety, and PPE and fall protection
• Preferred: commercial driver's license, Microsoft Office, and commercial or industrial experience
