Linehaul Coordinator

About the role

The Linehaul Coordinator supports planning and execution of transportation movements to maximize trailer capacity, reduce partial loads, and maintain service integrity across assigned regions. This role works closely with FedEx field operations to ensure efficient dispatch of equipment and timely delivery of shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with field teams to plan contractor and equipment needs for trailer movements.
• Coordinate and track FedEx trailers, rental equipment, new trailers, and dollies throughout the network.
• Manage unassigned team logistics to maximize resource utilization and minimize tractor dwell time.
• Dispatch transportation equipment according to the Linehaul plan and enforce dispatch and arrival rules.
• Enter trip details into the Transportation Management System (TMS) and verify equipment locations via yard inventories.
• Report missing equipment, investigate schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures, and implement contingency plans.
• Monitor safety initiatives, DOT roadside violations, and ensure compliance with monthly tractor inspections and annual certifications.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
• Prior dispatch experience preferred.
• Strong time‑management, organizational, and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using web‑based applications and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
