Light Vehicle Technician (Levels I, II & III)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Light Vehicle Technician for Levels I, II and III. The technician inspects, services and repairs light vehicles, snowmobiles and equipment, works with diagnostic tools and test equipment, and maintains accurate records of inspections and work performed.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, service and repair light vehicles, snowmobiles and equipment according to schedule
• Use diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct faults
• Maintain detailed records of inspections and work performed
• Operate shop equipment such as welders, compressors, presses and wheel alignment equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and service
• Operate a recovery vehicle and perform recovery functions, sometimes outdoors in extreme conditions
• Work safely and in line with environmental, safety, health and quality assurance requirements
• Perform other duties as required

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Level I: at least two years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Level II: at least four years' experience, or three years plus one summer or winter Antarctic deployment as a Level I technician
• Level III: at least seven years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, with medical, dental, drug screening, background checks and US citizenship (facility credentials)
• Ability to lift and move heavy items, climb in and out of equipment, crawl and work outdoors in extreme cold
• Participation in community programs such as housekeeping, cleaning and recycling

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Oral examination on mechanical, electrical and computer systems (required only for Level III)
• Preferred: one season of vehicle work in Antarctica, two years of technical school training, car dealership experience (especially Ford), ASE and dealership certifications, and remote polar operations experience
