Licensed Practical Nurse – School Health

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics seeks a full‑time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide practical nursing care in school health clinics, supporting student health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid, follow‑up assessments, and direct nursing care to students according to clinic protocols.
• Respond to health emergencies and deliver care under Florida LPN standing orders.
• Manage and update student health records, vaccination compliance, and emergency information in clinic databases.
• Administer medications, treatments, and coordinate care plans for students with medical needs.
• Maintain clinic inventory, prepare medical supplies, and ensure infection‑control standards.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, school staff, and team leaders about student health matters.
• Participate in school events, team conferences, and after‑school activities as needed.

Required profile

• Valid State of Florida LPN license.
• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• Minimum one year of nursing experience preferred.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work during school hours and attend events outside regular hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and clinic computer applications.
• Ability to document patient information accurately in electronic health records.
