Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Full-Time, 12‑hr Shifts

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) joins Thrive Now Recovery Center’s multidisciplinary team in Iowa City, providing direct, compassionate nursing care to individuals recovering from substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. Working under the supervision of an RN or clinical supervisor, the LPN helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting each client’s recovery journey.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care and support in accordance with RN guidance and facility protocols.
• Conduct basic nursing assessments, monitor vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and patient stability, and promptly report significant findings.
• Administer medications, treatments, and maintain accurate medication administration records (MAR).
• Assist with medication inventory management, ensuring proper storage, documentation, and compliance.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing observations and updates on patient progress.
• Provide patient education, discharge planning support, and serve as a point of contact for patients and families within the LPN scope of practice.

Required profile

• Current LPN licensure in the state of Iowa.
• Experience or strong interest in substance‑use and mental‑health recovery settings.
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (6 a.m.–6 p.m. or 6 p.m.–6 a.m.) three days per week.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, trauma‑informed approach.
