Licensed HVAC Mechanic – Full-Time

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of the Central Energy Plant is seeking a full‑time Licensed HVAC Mechanic to support the UHealth Medical Campus. The role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient operation of campus facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment as assigned.
• Respond to corrective repair requests for building, equipment, and system components.
• Inspect, service, and repair air‑conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems.
• Repair roof leaks related to HVAC units, including removal of roofing material and resealing.
• Maintain and repair fans, pumps, compressors, belts, pulleys, filters, and bearings.
• Keep accurate daily logs and records of equipment conditions and maintenance activities.
• Assist with emergency generator cycling, fire alarm testing, and smoke evacuation drills.
• Coordinate with supervisors when tasks exceed the mechanic’s scope.

Required profile

• Valid HVAC license.
• Experience reading prints, sketches, and diagrams.
• Ability to work safely on roofs and in confined spaces.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
