Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) – Oncology Support

About the role

The Social Worker, LCSW joins the University of Miami Cancer Center multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, evidence‑based mental health therapy and psychosocial support to oncology patients and their families. This role focuses on helping individuals navigate the emotional, psychological, and social challenges of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to identify mental health needs.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence‑based practices tailored to oncology patients.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with clear goals, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as needed.
• Offer crisis intervention, emotional support, and education on coping strategies, stress management, and resilience.
• Facilitate support groups for patients, caregivers, and survivors.
• Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, dietitians, and other team members to ensure holistic care.
• Connect patients and families with community resources such as financial aid, transportation, and housing.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and act as a mandated reporter when required.

Required profile

• Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
• Experience providing mental health services, preferably in an oncology or cancer‑center setting.
• Strong ability to assess, intervene, and support patients and families during crisis situations.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and patient‑centered care.
