Legal Counsel – Generalist Role in Insurtech

About the role

Reserv is a venture‑backed insurtech focused on AI‑driven claims automation. As a Legal Counsel you will join the early legal team, reporting to the VP of Legal, and support a fast‑growing company across transactional, commercial, and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, vendor and customer agreements, NDAs, and partnership deals.
• Support contract lifecycle management by creating and maintaining scalable templates and playbooks.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Product, and Finance to move deals forward efficiently.
• Partner with People Ops on employment law issues and corporate policy development.
• Advise product and engineering teams on data‑privacy considerations and emerging regulatory issues related to AI and automation.

Required profile

• Self‑starter who is organized, detail‑oriented, and takes ownership of tasks.
• Clear communicator able to explain legal concepts to non‑legal audiences.
• Business‑minded with a practical, commercial sensibility.
• Eager learner interested in insurance, claims, and AI‑related regulatory landscapes.
• Adaptable to ambiguous, fast‑paced environments and capable of building processes from scratch.
• High ethical standards and discretion when handling sensitive matters.

Required skills

• Strong foundational legal skills in contract drafting and negotiation.
• Understanding of data‑privacy principles and regulatory compliance.
• Experience working cross‑functionally with sales, product, finance, and HR teams.
