Legal Analyst (Defense/Intel)

About the role

SAIC is seeking a Legal Analyst to join a contract team supporting the Department of Defense Office of the General Counsel. The role involves providing preliminary legal reviews and research on a wide range of defense‑related matters, both domestic and international.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary reviews and draft orders for deployment, military operations, and rules of engagement.
• Research and support defense‑related international agreements, including trade, IP, cooperative, acquisition, cross‑servicing, and status‑of‑forces agreements.
• Prepare briefings on military exercises, freedom‑of‑navigation operations, and security‑assistance activities.
• Assist with civil litigation, congressional inquiries, privacy and civil liberties issues, FOIA requests, and related case work.
• Coordinate evidence and witness identification, manage classified information, and support release recommendations.
• Perform electronic redaction, create Vaughn indices, draft legal holds, and compile privilege logs.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• Experience reviewing military and international legal documents.
• Familiarity with FOIA processes, privilege analysis, and legal hold procedures.

Required skills

• Legal research and analytical writing.
• Understanding of defense‑related international agreements.
• Knowledge of FOIA regulations and redaction techniques.
