Lead Rental Technician - Spokane, WA

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Lead Rental Technician (LRT) in Spokane, WA, who performs full-range repairs on light construction equipment such as skid steers, chippers, trenchers and mini-excavators. The LRT works in a group of stores or customer job sites in the area and reports directly to the regional manager. The schedule is Sunday to Thursday, and candidates must live within 40 miles of Spokane.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and diagnose all components of rental equipment, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems and brakes
• Maintain a fleet of rental equipment, obtain parts and keep parts inventory accurate and up to date
• Document all work done on equipment using the company's technology platform, including labor and parts
• Perform repairs at store locations, company shops and job sites, and assist with equipment deliveries and pickups
• Train store associates and customers on the safe operation of equipment and explain the large equipment program
• Review the down equipment report and communicate with the leader to prioritize repairs and service calls
• Follow safety requirements, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and perform pre-delivery inspections (PDIs)

Required profile

• Able to diagnose and complete advanced mechanical repairs, including engines, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals
• Experience providing superior customer service
• Valid driver's license in the state of application; must be able to work outdoors in extreme conditions
• Physical ability to stand, walk and lift or carry equipment weighing 8-20 pounds
• Must be 21 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Preferred: trade school or technical education, and experience repairing gas/diesel engines or automotive and industrial equipment

Required skills

• Advanced mechanical repair of engines, hydraulics and electrical systems

• Use of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet)

Pay range for Washington residents: $30.00 - $33.00.
