About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Lead Production Technician for the third shift to head a fast‑paced team building high‑temperature superconducting magnets and related assemblies for fusion devices. The role combines hands‑on production work with leadership, continuous‑improvement, and strict quality and safety oversight.

Key responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, and train a team of technicians and welders focused on quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and qualify new processes.
  • Execute production builds according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize precision tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers while ensuring safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors during performance reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of formal leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 6 years of hands‑on experience with mechanical and electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum, epoxy potting, injection molding, cryogenic systems, soldering, and wiring.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality, with the ability to communicate expectations to the team.
  • High level of accountability for personal and team performance.
