Lead Patient Navigator

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Lead Patient Navigator to guide patients through complex care pathways, ensuring timely access to services and high satisfaction. This senior position supervises junior navigators and collaborates closely with clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of medical symptoms, signs, and anatomical systems to triage patient needs.
• Conduct patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide appointment reminders.
• Identify and resolve barriers to care, acting as liaison between patients, physicians, and staff.
• Educate and counsel patients on health and life‑situations, and explain HIPAA consent.
• Retrieve and track medical records, pathology slides, imaging, and other reports across the campus.
• Document all interactions accurately while preserving confidentiality.
• Train, develop, and empower new and existing navigation staff.
• Assist nursing staff with multidisciplinary meetings and tumor conference coordination.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
• George Washington Patient Navigator Certification required.
• Certification in secondary‑language translation (if applicable).
