Lead Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

About the role

Leidos Defense is seeking a Lead Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support its Hypersonics portfolio. The engineer works in a matrixed organization, supporting multiple programs at once, from large-scale prime-contractor programs to smaller subcontractor programs, and helps standardize digital engineering and systems engineering practices and tools, including Cameo.

Key responsibilities

• Use MBSE tools to develop system models and simulations for analysis and validation.
• Work with stakeholders to define system requirements and constraints.
• Conduct trade-off analyses to optimize system characteristics.
• Develop and maintain system architectures and interfaces.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate system components.
• Support verification and validation of systems using models.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on MBSE practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent ABET-accredited degree, with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an MS with 6+ years.
• Experience modeling in Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent) using SysML, and experience with Teamwork Cloud.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in systems engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven experience leading a team of engineers.
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL; US citizenship required, with ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance.

• Preferred: Sparx EA, IBM Rhapsody, UML, DoDAF (UPDM), DOORS, VTL, DoD acquisition processes, and experience with DoD, NASA or DARPA programs.
• Preferred: OCSMP and INCOSE SEP certifications.

Pay range: $107,900 - $195,050.
