Lead Forward Deployed Engineer - Defense Supply Chain Risk

About the role

Exiger, an AI partner for supply chain and procurement automation, is hiring a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer for its Federal Programs department in Huntsville, Alabama (hybrid position). The role guides and organizes the delivery of advanced analytics and AI-enabled capabilities supporting Army sustainment and supply chain risk management programs, working with engineers, data scientists and Army stakeholders to turn mission requirements into scalable analytics workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers developing analytics and AI-driven solutions for Army sustainment, acquisition and supply chain risk management.
• Direct the development and deployment of databases, data pipelines, risk models, mitigation strategies and analytic workflows to identify and mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities.
• Define technical methodologies, prioritize milestones and manage delivery of mission-ready analytical capabilities.
• Translate sustainment and acquisition requirements into actionable tasks for engineering and data science teams.
• Oversee QA/QC of data and model outputs so they are technically valid, reproducible and operationally relevant.
• Ensure analytics integration complies with Army policy and information assurance standards.
• Coordinate technical teams, program leadership and Army stakeholders, ensuring transparency, accountability and timely reporting.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in front-end, back-end or full-stack software development leading data analytics, AI/ML or risk management programs for federal or defense customers.
• Proven record managing AI- and data-driven programs supporting defense sustainment, logistics or acquisition.
• Intermediate to advanced Python, including data manipulation, validation and analytics (e.g. pandas, NumPy).
• Strong SQL skills for writing and optimizing queries on large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake; active Snowflake users strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL and workflow orchestration.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Preferred

• Prior software development and AI experience.
• Familiarity with supply chain risk management, industrial base analysis or production sustainment data.
• Experience with AI/LLM workflows, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning and model evaluation.
• Validating analytics outputs in cloud data environments.
• Background in mechanical, industrial or systems engineering concepts related to manufacturing feasibility and readiness.
