Laborer – Aerostat Flight Operations

About the role
QinetiQ US is looking for an experienced Site Laborer to support the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) program. You will work across multiple Southern‑border locations, assisting with aerostat flight operations and site‑level support tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the flight crew with pre‑launch, launch, ascent, transition, station‑keeping, and recovery of aerostats.
- Perform routine maintenance on aerostat and radar equipment.
- Support site operations including security, landscaping, and logistical functions.
- Load and unload trucks, move supplies, stack materials for storage or binning.
- Collect refuse, handle salvageable materials, and conduct basic earthwork such as digging, filling, and tamping.
Required profile
- Physical ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments.
- Prior experience with line‑handling operations and aerostat flight support.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Reliability and willingness to work at multiple remote sites.
Required skills
- Aerostat flight operations experience.
- Equipment maintenance on aerostat and radar systems.
- Line handling and truck loading/unloading.
- Basic construction and site‑maintenance tasks.
