Laboratory Technician

About the role

Join 3M as a Laboratory Technician in Woodbury, MN, where you will work alongside innovative researchers and engineers to develop and improve advanced materials and processes. This position offers a hands‑on environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, operate, and maintain web‑mechanics, coating, printing, drying, curing, analysis and characterization equipment.
• Design and execute experiments to support lead researchers, evaluating how material and process parameters affect product properties.
• Work independently and with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and optimize processes.
• Provide recommendations on material formulations and process modifications based on experimental results.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED (or higher) completed and verified prior to start.
• Minimum of one (1) year of technician experience in private, public, government, or military settings.
• Associates degree or two‑year technical program certificate in electrical, mechanical, or process engineering (preferred).
• Experience with roll‑to‑roll or continuous processing and coating operations (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
