Lab Technician

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor and one of the largest cheese producers in the USA, is hiring a Lab Technician. The role covers food safety and quality tasks in the laboratory, including microbiological sampling and analysis, and requires working independently with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform food safety and quality tasks in the lab
• Take sterile cheese samples and other samples, plate them for microbiology and swab plant areas aseptically
• Read and interpret microbiological plating results
• Perform SAP functions in the system
• Work overtime as needed and carry out any other duties assigned

Required profile

• Able to lift 60 pounds and push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to work independently with minimal or no supervision and to multi-task
• Able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment and to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors
• Able to learn to use all lab equipment proficiently and to learn new procedures as they arise
• Able to read and write in English

Required skills

• Operate the FT 120 Foss, the CEM oven and the salt analyzer
• Work safely with chemicals
• Accurately perform simple mathematical formulas
