Knife Grinder Operator – Manufacturing

About the role

The Knife Grinder Operator works on the production floor of Woodgrain’s Americus facility, sharpening and shaping knives and saw blades used in millwork manufacturing. The role focuses on maintaining high‑quality tooling while ensuring safe, efficient machine operation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate grinding machines according to specifications to sharpen knives, saw blades, and cutter heads.
• Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine adjustments on grinding equipment.
• Set travel, pressure, and coolant flow using hand wheels and valves to achieve precise blade profiles.
• Monitor upstream and downstream parts for compliance with specifications and communicate corrective actions.
• Collect and record processing data, ensuring equipment operates within optimal settings.
• Maintain a clean, organized filing room and adhere to 5S housekeeping standards.
• Identify and clear jams, resolve defects, and support continuous process improvement.
