About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II to support the rehabilitation of youth offenders in Ware County. Working under general supervision, you will provide social services, develop treatment plans, and ensure compliance with court‑ordered conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and adherence to probation contracts.
• Recommend remedial actions or initiate court proceedings for non‑compliance.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens, to verify treatment program compliance.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive case files for each assigned youth offender.
• Discuss how substance abuse, anger management, and related issues may influence criminal behavior.
• Conduct pre‑hearing investigations, testify in court, and recommend sentencing conditions.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements such as restitution, education, and employment stipulations.
• Write detailed progress reports and evaluations.
• Arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment services as ordered.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, including electronic monitoring and field visits to homes, schools, or workplaces.

Required profile

• Ability to meet agency‑established physical agility standards and pass required assessments.
• Strong communication skills for interviewing, counseling, and courtroom testimony.
• Capability to prepare, organize, and maintain detailed case documentation.
• Willingness to travel within the community for supervision visits and investigations.
