Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Marietta RYDC

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to supervise a unit at the Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). You will help create a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while leading a team of correctional staff.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with department policies and SOPs.
• Supervise, guide, and assign work to subordinate staff, acting as shift supervisor.
• Conduct active supervision, intervene to control inappropriate behavior, and ensure a safe environment.
• Complete administrative paperwork, maintain records, and prepare reports.
• Develop and enforce work and security procedures, including contraband searches and equipment control.
• Support training, selection, and orientation of staff members.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent, OR two years of military service at rank E‑5 or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire.
