Junior System Security Analyst

About the role

Blu Omega is looking for a Junior System Security Analyst to join a federal program supporting NIH cybersecurity operations. This fully remote position works the 2nd shift and focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and strengthening defenses for national health data.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor systems using tools such as Splunk and Microsoft Defender to detect vulnerabilities and threats.
• Conduct risk assessments, system audits, and incident response activities.
• Recommend and implement mitigation strategies in line with federal standards (FISMA, NIST).
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to embed security best practices into architecture and operations.
• Support 24/7 cybersecurity operations and stay current on emerging threats.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on system security analysis.
• Strong knowledge of threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks (FISMA, NIST).
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and obtain NIH Public Trust clearance.
